Jane Brucker was selected by curator Claudia Bohn-Spector to create a site-specific installation inspired by objects Brucker selected from the Caltech Archives & Special Collections. For the historic library of Gates Annex, built in 1927, Brucker created six softly lit vignettes that sit within the library’s bookshelves, and an additional work reminiscent of a small clock tower. Her installation dialogues with Caltech’s collection of rare, illustrated books in physics and astronomy, including first edition works by Copernicus, Galileo, and Kepler.

Brucker will be speaking during Saturday’s Symposia Day, an in-depth exploration and conversation at the intersection of art and science. The presentations will mark the final weekend of the Getty-initiated PST ART: Art & Science Collide event at Caltech. Artists and researchers from the Caltech Archives, JPL, and CaltechLive will each host 90-minute presentations that illuminate and celebrate the many ways in which scientists and artists share in the creative process and innovation, and how their work contributes to the welfare of our communities. Brucker will be speaking as part of an artist’s panel moderated by the exhibition's curator Claudia Bohn-Spector.
